Where Is Your Turnitin Report in Canvas, Moodle, Blackboard, or Brightspace?

Your Turnitin report is not on a separate Turnitin website — it is embedded in your university's learning management system. Sign in to your LMS (Canvas, Moodle, Blackboard, or Brightspace — whichever your school uses), open the assignment, and look for the color-coded similarity result on your submission tile. In some systems the report also opens from the grades area. Whether you can see it at all depends on settings your instructor configured when creating the assignment — and in Canvas, that setting is locked after creation.

Turnitin's own student guide says to start in the LMS:

"Log in to your university's Learning Management System or LMS (for example: Blackboard or Moodle) as you normally would. Navigate to the course and assignment list in the LMS. Launch the Turnitin assignment you want to view. This will take you to a page containing the submission tile, which relates to the details of the paper you submitted to the assignment. Under the Similarity heading on the submission tile, you will see the color-coded similarity result. Click on your result to open your Similarity Report."

Turnitin is a web service, but students interact with it through the LMS shell — the submission tile and its color-coded result are what you actually see. This is why "where is my report?" answers differ by school: the location is inherited from your university's LMS, not from Turnitin.

In Canvas, the report appears in two places depending on how the instructor set the assignment:

"If you enabled student access during assignment creation students can view their report from the Grades area, or the Assignments area. If student access was not enabled at creation, students will not be able to view the report."

That wording is from the instructor-side guide, and it carries one detail students should know:

"Select Allow students to view report after submitting if you want students to see their results. This setting is locked after assignment creation. Once the assignment is saved, you cannot change whether students can view the report."

The visibility toggle is locked once the assignment exists — not just for students, but for instructors too. If your Canvas report never shows up, the likely answer is this setting, not a technical fault. (Our guide on who can see the Similarity Report covers the visibility options generally.)

Turnitin's integration overview describes each system briefly:

• Moodle: Turnitin integrates via the Moodle Plagiarism Plugin or the External Tool (LTI); it checks assignments, forums, and workshops, and scores appear directly in the Moodle course and gradebook.
• Blackboard: LTI integration supports both the original and new Ultra course experience; scores appear directly in the Blackboard Grade Center.
• D2L Brightspace: Turnitin is deeply embedded in the Brightspace assignment dropbox workflow; scores appear directly in the Brightspace course and gradebook.
• Canvas: scores appear from SpeedGrader or the Canvas Gradebook on the instructor side, and from Grades or Assignments on the student side.

The pattern repeats across all four: the report opens from the assignment itself, and the score also appears in the gradebook area. The exact door differs, but the principle doesn't — look for a similarity percentage next to your submission, and click it.

When you open the assignment, the submission tile shows one of three states, as described in the official student guide:

• Processing: Turnitin hasn't finished checking your submission against other files. Come back in a few minutes.
• Available after [assignment due date]: you can't see your Similarity Report until the listed date — the due date — no matter how many times you refresh.
• Processing failed / Timed out: Turnitin ran into a problem generating your Similarity Report. Don't panic — take a screenshot of what you see and email the information to your instructor with the screenshot included.

The middle state is set by the instructor (this connects to our guide on when reports become available). The failed state has an official reaction: screenshot and tell your instructor, not do-it-yourself troubleshooting.

One more location trap: the report is not in your LMS's mobile app. The system requirements page is explicit:

"Turnitin is not supported for use inside third-party LMS mobile apps. Turnitin does not officially support third-party LMS mobile apps. For the best experience, we recommend access via the LMS from a supported web browser."

If you open Canvas, Moodle, or Blackboard's native app and find no Turnitin report inside, that's expected — the supported path is the LMS in your browser. (Our guide on mobile submission covers the full device rules.)

Your Turnitin report lives inside your university's LMS — Canvas (Grades or Assignments), Moodle (the assignment), Blackboard (the course), or Brightspace (the assignment dropbox) — not on a separate Turnitin page. Open the assignment and click the color-coded similarity result; the score also appears in the gradebook area. Visibility is instructor-controlled, and in Canvas the allow-students-to-view toggle is locked at assignment creation. The submission tile shows three states: processing, available-after-due-date, or failed. And the LMS mobile app will not show it — use a browser.
