按审稿意见改完超字数了：期刊和会议怎么规定

通常还算数，而且有些期刊在修改稿阶段比首投更严。少数会议和期刊明文为审稿意见多留篇幅，也有几家把终稿篇幅交给编辑决定。页面上什么都没写的，就以决定信和编辑的说法为准。 以下是十个期刊和会议自己页面上的规定，2026 年 9 月 25 日读取：

会议的规定逐年更新。上表是 2026 年的征稿启事，投稿前请以你投的那一年为准。

JCO 旗下期刊首投时不查格式，只有一个例外。原话是："Our only exception to this policy is the word limit."（这项政策唯一的例外是字数限制。）就连这个例外也有余量：首投时正文 "may exceed the article type's word limit by no more than 1,000 words"（超出该文章类型字数限制的部分不得多于 1,000 词）。到了修改稿，余量就没了："Upon submission of a revision or prior to acceptance, all articles must meet the article type's word limit."（提交修改稿时或接收之前，所有文章都必须符合该文章类型的字数限制。）

首投时用掉了这 1,000 词余量的话，修改稿还没补审稿人要的内容，就已经超了最多 1,000 词。

JCI 的 Research Letter 在首投和修改阶段都是最多 1,200 词，参考文献也算在内。写明超了会怎样的，是修改稿投稿须知："Adherence to word limits and figure size is a requirement for the Research Letter format. Revisions will be returned upon submission of the manuscript to address these issues."（遵守字数和图片尺寸限制是 Research Letter 格式的硬性要求，不符合的修改稿在提交时就会被退回处理。）JCI 的完整研究论文建议 9,000 词、最多 12,000 词，同样把参考文献、图注和表格算在内。

有些会议预先考虑到了修改稿会变长。ACL 2026 和 EMNLP 2026 的征稿启事用的是同一句话："Final versions of accepted papers will be given one additional page of content (up to 9 pages for long papers, up to 5 pages for short papers) to address reviewers' comments."（录用论文的终稿可多一页正文，长文最多 9 页、短文最多 5 页，用于回应审稿意见。）

这一页只给录用论文的终稿。经 ACL Rolling Review 修改后重投的论文，仍按 8 页和 4 页算，而 ARR 的征稿启事说得很直接："Submissions that exceed the length requirements, or are missing a limitations section, will be desk rejected."（超出篇幅要求或缺少局限性一节的投稿，将被直接拒稿。）

ICML 2026 同样给录用论文多一页："The final versions of accepted papers will be allowed one extra page for the main paper."（录用论文的终稿正文可多一页。）ICLR 2026 放宽得更早，在审稿阶段就放了："During the discussion/rebuttal phase and for the camera ready, the page limit will be increased to 10 pages to allow for new results/discussions. This limit will be strictly enforced."（在讨论/反驳阶段以及终稿，页数上限提高到 10 页，以容纳新的结果和讨论；这一上限严格执行。）紧接着一句说明了严格执行的后果："Papers with main text beyond the page limit will be desk-rejected."（正文超出页数限制的论文将被直接拒稿。）多出来的就这一页。

Physical Review Letters 的办法不一样。3,750 词的核心正文之外，Letter 还可以附 "up to two pages of appendices or other content—called End Matter"（最多两页附录或其他内容，称为 End Matter），而且 "End Matter does not count against the core length limit."（End Matter 不计入核心正文的篇幅限制。）如果还不够，可以申请："Authors may request a waiver for 1/2 page or more for either the core of the paper or the End Matter."（作者可以为核心正文或 End Matter 申请半页及以上的豁免。）编辑会考量 "there is a clear need for the room"（是否确实需要这些篇幅）以及成果是否 "is of extreme importance or interest"（极其重要或极受关注），而且 "decisions on such waivers are not subject to appeal."（豁免决定不接受申诉。）

有两家期刊的终稿篇幅不写死在页面上，而是和编辑商定。Nature 给出的印刷篇幅是平均值，接着补了一句："However, the final print length is at the editor's discretion."（不过，终稿印刷篇幅由编辑酌定。）它的编辑会在 "when asking for the final version of the manuscript"（索要终稿时）就 "the expected print length"（预计印刷篇幅）给出详细建议。Nature Communications 首投时比较宽松："Within reason, style and length will not directly influence consideration of a manuscript."（在合理范围内，格式和篇幅不会直接影响稿件的审理。）它还说 "If and when revisions are required, the editor will provide detailed formatting instructions at that time."（如需修改，编辑届时会给出详细的格式要求。）

Circulation 正好相反。它给每种文章类型都公布了上限，原创研究 4,000 词、Research Letter 800 词，修改稿页面又加了一句："Authors should adhere to any formatting requirements or requests made within the decision letter."（作者应遵守决定信中提出的任何格式要求或请求。）决定信里的要求是叠加在已公布的上限之上的，不是替代它。

所以先读决定信。信里给了篇幅，那就是你的限制。2026 年 9 月 r/PhD 上有人问到这个问题，有两位研究者说，在投稿信（cover letter）里写一句说明对他们就够了。其中一位开头先说这 "100% journal dependent"（完全看期刊），然后给出了写法："To do everything the reviewers requested, I had to extend the manuscript which is now X words beyond the limit."（为了完成审稿人的全部要求，我不得不扩充稿件，现在超出限制 X 词。）同一帖里另一位说，有家期刊不在意修改稿超出 500 词，另一家连超 50 词都不允许。如果决定信和期刊页面都没说清楚，先问编辑部再动手删，别靠猜。期刊有明文规定的，比如 JCO 和 JCI 的 Research Letter，在投稿信里说明一句改变不了规定。

腾篇幅最常见的办法是把内容移进补充材料或附录。有几处写明了这条路能走多远：

• JCI 研究论文正文最多 9 个图表，而 "There are no limits on the number of display items in the supplemental material."（补充材料中的图表数量不设上限。）
• ACL Rolling Review 提醒 "reviewers are not required to consider material in appendices"（审稿人没有义务看附录里的内容），并说 "Any material necessary to assess the novelty, claims and implications of the study (including related work, technical clarifications, discussion), should likewise be part of the main paper."（评估研究新颖性、结论和意义所需的任何内容，包括相关工作、技术说明和讨论，同样应放在正文中。）接着说得更重："Including key materials in appendices could be viewed as an attempt to circumvent the content page count, and result in desk rejection."（把关键内容放进附录，可能被视为规避正文页数限制，导致直接拒稿。）
• ICLR 2026 附录页数不限，"but reviewers are not required to read the appendix."（但审稿人没有义务读附录。）

三处里有两处说审稿人不必读附录。这对审稿人要求补的内容很要紧。如果审稿人是因为怀疑某个结论才要求补一项分析，而你把它挪进补充材料、只在回复信里提一句，那么只读正文的人看到的仍是一个缺乏支撑的结论。结果和解释结果的那句话留在正文，把方法细节和附加表格移进补充材料。

如果还得删，就从审稿人没问到的部分下手：

1. 审稿人要求补的内容整块保留。 回复信会指向这些内容，审稿人和编辑也会去那里核对自己的意见有没有得到回应。
2. 从别处找字数。 引言里的背景铺垫、讨论部分重复一遍的结果、可以移进补充材料的方法细节，通常都有删减空间。
3. 先删完，再写行号。 Circulation 要求每条回复写明 "the exact page number(s), paragraph(s), and line number(s) where each revision was made"（每处修改所在的确切页码、段落和行号）。每删一处，下面的行号都会变，先写好的回复信就会指错位置。
4. 删掉的地方会被人看到。 Circulation 要求 "Indicate clearly any deletions."（清楚标明所有删除。）JCI 要求提交 "a marked-up version of the entire manuscript showing revisions"（显示修改内容的全文标记版）。审稿人称赞过或追问过的内容，别悄悄删掉。

哪些部分算进字数限制、有些期刊超页收多少钱，见期刊字数限制：到底算哪些，超了要付什么代价。

如果用 AI 工具来删，先看出版社的 AI 政策。Elsevier 的期刊政策说 "Basic checks of grammar, spelling and punctuation do not need a declaration statement"（基础的语法、拼写和标点检查不需要声明），但 "when an AI tool makes substantive changes to sentence structure or organization of a part of the text, this should be disclosed."（如果 AI 工具对句子结构或某部分文本的组织做了实质性改动，就应当声明。）一轮把句子改短的精简，就可能越过这条线；拿不准时，就声明，或者问编辑。其他出版社的界线，见各大出版社的 AI 披露政策对照。

修改稿超字数，期刊会拒稿吗？ 有的期刊写明了处理方式。JCO 要求修改稿符合该文章类型的字数限制，JCI 说超字数的 Research Letter "will be returned"（会被退回）。更多期刊交给编辑决定，请查看决定信和期刊的修改稿投稿须知。在 ICLR 和 ACL Rolling Review 这类页数限制是硬性的地方，超页就直接拒稿。

ACL 或 EMNLP 多出来的那一页需要申请吗？ 2026 年的征稿启事写的是终稿 "will be given one additional page of content"（会多给一页正文），是录用论文规则的一部分，不需要另外申请。

能申请更多篇幅吗？ Physical Review Letters 有正式渠道：申请半页及以上的豁免。编辑会考量是否 "a clear need for the room"（确实需要这些篇幅），且决定不接受申诉。没有明文渠道的期刊，请在动手删之前先问编辑，并说明原因：补了审稿人要求的内容。
